Traditional Printing

Okay, it had to happen I guess, that is going back to some chemical photographic process. I was given a Cyanotype kit made by Jacquard with some art paper some time back. But to be honest I had very little success, with prints just being washed away in the final process. As you can imagine, together with leaving in sunlight (what sun) it would be several hours for each print duration. Well that project soon stopped and was shelved for later…

Mindful Photography

I attended an evening lecture led by Ken Scott called ‘The Joy of Seeing’. The talk is on ‘mindful photography’ which is not new but an interesting concept and approach to helping you the individual ‘see’ better and in turn aid your art. Much of it I had done before but forgot or did not practice anymore.

There loads of resources on this subject revealed from a search, so I’ll not include any links here. One of the exercises suggest was to shoot is a single location, not moving no more than a metre is any direction up to 10 images.

I’ll give this a go, see what happens.

March Drawings

So I slowed down last month, thinking that I was not improving fast enough. Only 3 items here this time.

Pencil Drawing

Well I’ve started to pencil draw as I’ve not been able to shoot with the freedom that I’d normally have. I’ve found it quite relaxing also. It does suck a fair amount of time, but I think the final production is bags more satisfying.

Here’s a couple or more, but please believe I’ve only just started and there’s much to learn.

Covid 19

Well it has now been 9 months since this virus raised itself here in the UK and it has changed our lives. As this is a photo-blog I should start by saying indeed photo shooting has been limited. Like many others I have used the restrictions to house-keep my images and have found a few gems sitting on the data shelf.

Website Refresh

So my main site has been ongoing for as long as this blog, but with some additional images from time to time. I did have a certificate concern that prevented viewing of the site, all now resolved.

Mother Earth

Here’s an image from the mind. I had the idea to merge the female form with earthly growing things. This is work in progress as I hope to continue the project with various styles along the same theme.

Focus Group (of Chichester)

I was clearing out my mobile pictures, doing some house-keep and came across a couple of images from my exhibition visit in Chichester. A small group of photographer-artists came together to form what they call the Focus Group. Each photographer has a very different and distinct style and genre, collectively presenting a strong body of work.

The exhibition took place in the heart of the city of Chichester, a place of huge historic placing in England history. Actually, I’m not sure why they chose to have the event there, because in discussions with one of the photographers I discovered he lived around the corner from me in Hampshire. Well I thought they were worth a mention…oh they are not a traditional “camera club”

Their website is as follows: Focusgroupphotography check out some of their work.
